Well, for those of you that has not yet built a guitar, I can tell you that it probably is more addictive than any drug out there. Even if you think your new homebuilt guitar is really nice, you just want to try to make a better one. This time I thought of making a hollowbody guitar. A guitar inspired by a Gibson ES 335 was indeed the goal, but I realized that the laminated, curved top and bottom would be a great challenge. However, the other famous guitar maker, also had a version that I thougth was within my capability. A semi-hollowed mahogany body with maple top and rosewood binding was the result this time. The neck is a single piece maple with a jakaranda fretboard at standard Fender scale-length. The pick-ups were a Seymour Duncan ‘Broadcaster’ in bridge position and a DiMarzio ‘Twang King’ in neck position. This guitar definetively has more twang than the mahogany necked, first two humbucker equipped guitars.
