This guitar was finished in November 2009. It is built highly inspired by a ’59 Gibson Les Paul Standard The dimensions and construction details is fairly close to the original although some details will differ slightly. This is definitively the most time consuming guitar I have built. Body and neck is quarter sawn sipo (African mahogany) The maple top was hand-carved and sanded to shape. I’m using Seumour Duncan 59 at neck position and a Seymour Duncan JB at bridge position. The hardware was aged slightly to give a touch of the 50’s.
The tone is both brilliant and deep, mainly because of the quite large thickness of the body.
10’th Guitar update
I was not really happy with the top-curvature and the colour after a while. Having looked at real Gibson guitars (re-issues) I realised that I wanted to give it a second try. Said and done, in November 2010, version 2 of the guitar was completed. It also got a pair of new microphones from Lundgren Pickups. Heaven 57.
